Sprouts Picks a Prime Spot in Central Texas for a New Store

After sitting vacant for generations, the lot at 1164 Main Street in Leander, Texas is finally set for development. A 25,000-square-foot Sprouts Farmers Market will rise on the site as part of the Northline project, a large mixed-use district transforming this part of the city. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists the project with a February 2026 construction start and a March 2027 completion. It carries a total estimated cost of $5.8 million.

History of the Site

This lot has never supported any commercial buildings. Aerial images from 1937 show it divided into farmland, and even in 2008, it remained wide open. Around that time, crews began shaping a new road just south of the property—an early sign of future development. Street view images from 2025 still show an empty field surrounded by modern retail like H-E-B plus!, Dairy Queen, and Einstein Bros. Bagels.

What’s Behind the Development

The upcoming Sprouts will join the Northline development, a 116-acre project that blends retail, office, and residential space. Endeavor Real Estate Group is leading the buildout of the 17-acre retail area where Sprouts will go. While the location hasn’t appeared on the Sprouts store locator, multiple sources including the Austin Business Journal and MySanAntonio have already confirmed the store.
