Walmart is planning a new Neighborhood Market at 6209 U.S. Highway 90 in Milton, Florida, taking over the site of the former Bealls department store in Parkmore Plaza. The original building was constructed in 1986 and sits within a shopping center that also includes Big Lots, Cato, The UPS Store, and other tenants.
In January 2024, Santa Rosa County approved Walmart’s proposal to demolish the Bealls building and construct a new 57,000-square-foot grocery store. Early reports suggested the store could open as early as summer 2025, making it Milton’s first Neighborhood Market location separate from the larger Supercenter west of town.
Images and Listings Still Show the Building Standing
The property remains listed on LoopNet by NAI Pensacola. The listing identifies the former Bealls space as a future Walmart Neighborhood Market, but the structure itself is still visible in the listing image. That photo is undated, and based on its condition, it likely predates any 2024 demolition activity.
No current aerial imagery or street-level photographs confirm whether demolition has actually occurred. There are also no social media updates or press releases showing progress at the site. As of June 2025, the most up-to-date public information still shows the building intact, and no visible construction activity.
Community Eyes Needed to Confirm Real-Time Progress
This development has generated local interest, especially since it marks a shift in how Walmart is expanding in smaller cities. Neighborhood Market stores are typically focused on groceries and pharmacy services, and often serve as infill locations between Supercenters. The Milton store will be the first of its kind in the immediate area.
