A former Golden Corral property in Irving is preparing for another chapter after years of vacancy and redevelopment. The site at 1701 N Belt Line Road is now listed as a future ClearWater Express Wash location. The restaurant opened in the late 1990s and later closed before being demolished in 2023. We first covered the property in April 2023, before the replacement project was announced. Historic aerials and Street View show its evolution from open land to restaurant property and redevelopment site.
February 2001
The future Golden Corral site was already surrounded by established commercial development by February 2001. The restaurant occupied the northern portion of the property. A large paved parking area extended south toward neighboring businesses. The surrounding corridor was already heavily developed compared with earlier historic aerials.
April 2017

Golden Corral was still operating at the property in April 2017. Street View shows the restaurant with its exterior signage intact and vehicles throughout the parking lot. The building had occupied the site since the late 1990s. This view captures the property several years before the restaurant closed.
June 2023
By June 2023, the former Golden Corral building had been demolished. Most of the restaurant structure was gone, leaving an open tract surrounded by remaining pavement. SprawlTag first covered the demolition in April 2023. At that time, no replacement for the restaurant had been announced.
October 2023
Construction activity had changed the property again by October 2023. Fencing surrounded the site while earthwork and grading were underway. Portions of the former parking area remained visible in the foreground. The former restaurant footprint had become an active redevelopment site.

Location History
Historic images of the site date back to 1958, when the area was largely undeveloped. Over the years, the landscape changed, and in the early 1970s, what is now a Storage King building was constructed next to the site, followed by the Golden Corral building in 1997.
