In 2023 Costco Wholesale opened a new store at 4816 N 118th Ave E, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The discout wholesaler is at northeast corner of the Highway 169 and 46th Street intersection. This store is almost 16 miles north of the first Costco in Tulsa, located on Memorial Drive. Costco’s new location also serves the residents of Owasso, a northern satellite city of Tulsa with a population of almost 40,000. The one year old membership only wholesale has 200,000 square feet of space and it’s introduction created approximately 125 jobs.
This was the first development on this tract of land as shown in historic aerial images dating back to 1954. Highway 169 was built in the early 60s and a $9 million project reconfigured the ramps next to the new Costco, from a cloverleaf style to a diamond style. The old 46th Street bridges over Highway 169 were also replaced.
Costco is the fifth-largest retailer in the world and the world’s largest retailer of prime beef, organic foods, and rotisserie chicken. It is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and had annual revenue of 226 billion in 2022.
