A new Discount Tire location has been proposed for a growing stretch of FM 1093 in Fulshear, Texas. A state construction filing indicates that work on the 9,800-square-foot building could begin as early as July 2025, with completion expected by January 2026. While no official announcement has been made by the company, this filing signals another potential addition to the retail boom happening west of Houston.
Project Site Near Busy FM 1093 and FM 359 Intersection
According to the filing, the project will be located at 27712 FM 1093 Road, just west of FM 359. This area has seen rapid commercial growth in recent years, with nearby businesses including Raising Cane’s, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Shipley Do-Nuts, and Culver’s already in place. The lot in question remains vacant today, as confirmed by Street View imagery from early 2025. Sidewalks and utility infrastructure are already present, hinting at a site prepared for future development.
The project description notes that the building will be a single-story structure with a partial mezzanine level designated for sales and tire installation. Heating, lighting, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems are all included in the plan.
Transformation of FM 1093 from Rural Edge to Retail Hotspot
FM 1093 has long served as a major westward route out of Houston, but much of its length through Fulshear remained rural until the 2000s. Over the last two decades, large master-planned communities have reshaped the landscape, pushing commercial development westward. The intersection of FM 1093 and FM 359 is now a key retail node in Fort Bend County.
The proposed Discount Tire would add to this momentum. While the project’s future depends on permitting and development timelines, its location suggests it would serve both local residents and pass-through traffic on FM 1093.
