L.D. Bell High School, a well-known institution in Hurst, Texas, is getting ready for a major transformation. The high school, originally built in 1965 at its current location on Brown Trail, will undergo a complete replacement thanks to a nearly $1 billion bond approved by HEB ISD voters in November 2023. The bond will fund the construction of new facilities for both L.D. Bell and Trinity High School, as part of a comprehensive upgrade to aging school infrastructures across the district.
The redevelopment of L.D. Bell is essential due to the school’s aging facilities, which no longer meet modern standards for size and safety. The new campus will be built adjacent to the current one, and the project will be completed in phases. This project reflects the district’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art learning environments. The transformation is expected to be complete by 2029.
Historical aerial images show how much the area has changed since the 1950s when the land surrounding the school was mostly rural. By 1968, significant suburban development began and this part of Airport Freeway was built. Today, the area is fully developed with residential neighborhoods and modern infrastructure surrounding the school.
