A new ALDI store is preparing to open at the Terraces at University Place shopping center in Charlotte. According to its Google business listing, the opening is scheduled for August 20, 2025. The store is located in a mix of restaurants and retailers along North Tryon Street, just southeast of the UNC Charlotte campus.

ALDI Will Occupy a 19,209-Square-Foot Space
The new store is located at 9609 North Tryon Street, within an established shopping center owned and leased by the Providence Group. Updated leasing materials indicate that ALDI will occupy a 19,209-square-foot unit on the east side of the property.
Other tenants at the Terraces at University Place include Flying Saucer, Iron Dish Korean BBQ, Inchinโs Bamboo Garden, Lucky You, and Wing Zone. The center features multiple access points from North Tryon Street. A new traffic signal is also shown on the latest site plan.
Built Around 2000, The Site Has Seen Steady Change
Aerial images from 1998 show the land was undeveloped at that time, with visible grading activity. By 2002, the shopping center was fully built. Property listings, including LoopNet, indicate the center was constructed in 2000.
The unit designated for ALDI previously housed a restaurant. Images from 2019 show signage for The Press Box Bar & Grill on the same side of the center.
Whatโs Next?
ALDI is listed as a future tenant in Providence Group leasing materials and is shown on the current site plan. The companyโs website does not include an opening date, but its Google business listing states August 20, 2025.
