A Big-Name Grocer Is Replacing This Wisconsin OfficeMax

Back in 2023, OfficeMax quietly closed its doors at 2840 Heritage Drive in Delafield, Wisconsin. Now, after months of renovation, ALDI is stepping in with a fresh grocery setup—and a liquor license to boot. It’s part of the chain’s continued expansion across Wisconsin, but for locals, it’s more than just another discount grocer moving in.

Set to open on June 18, according to a Google Maps listing, this ALDI location is the latest chapter for a retail site that has been active since the early ’80s.

The Lot Has Seen a Lot

Go back to 1941, and this area was just farmland—rows, trees, and a couple of dirt paths. Nothing in sight that even hinted at a shopping center. That changed dramatically in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Historic aerials from 1980 show the land starting to get carved out, and by 1981, the commercial structure we still see today was already in place.

That layout hasn’t changed much. From OfficeMax to the surrounding Klinke Cleaners and Nothing Bundt Cakes, the plaza became a low-key retail hub just off Heritage Drive. In fact, you can still trace the same parking lot design from those 1981 aerial shots.

Aldi Takes Over With Minimal Fuss

Official records show that ALDI’s site plan was approved by the Delafield Plan Commission in June 2024. The company is repurposing the former OfficeMax space without major structural changes. What’s new is the signage—and the addition of a beer and liquor section, which was cleared in May 2025 when the city approved a Class A license for the store.

Owned by Heritage Hillside LLC, the property spans roughly 3,916 square feet of leasable space. A brochure recently listed it for lease, suggesting more tenants could be coming in alongside ALDI soon.
