A new Pitstop Express fuel station is set for construction at 4504 Yale St in Houston’s Independence Heights.
The 9,056-square-foot project will include a gas station and a fuel canopy, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2025 and is expected to be completed by March 2026.
The development sits at the intersection of Yale St and W. Whitney St, just north of Loop 610.
The property was sold in September 2024 for $1.75 million, highlighting its growing commercial value.
This corner lot is one of several in the area targeted for retail growth and redevelopment.
A Look at the Site’s Long Evolution
In 1944, the area was semi-rural, dotted with trees, groves, and scattered houses.
Aerial images show that the current path of Yale Street did not exist at that time.
By 2002, the road and surrounding lots had been fully developed, though the corner remained wooded.
In 2011, development had intensified around the site, and the property itself appeared cleared.
The lot has remained undeveloped in recent years, surrounded by homes and small businesses.
Its location near new multifamily and retail projects makes it a prime target for commercial use.
