City Agreement and Development Progress
On April 18, 2024, the City of Joshua approved a Chapter 380 agreement with Whataburger’s corporate office for the new development at 1044 S. Broadway. This agreement was part of the city’s efforts to encourage commercial growth in the area.
Recent Construction Activity
A recent Facebook post from Pathway on December 15, 2024, mentioned that a contractor installing a water meter for the new Whataburger accidentally caused a significant fiber cut, leading to service disruptions. This indicates that active construction was still ongoing at that time.
Current Status and What’s Next
Despite the original December 2024 estimated completion, there has been no official announcement confirming the restaurant’s opening. The City of Joshua’s Development Services Department still lists the project as “Under Construction.”
