This Closed Heff’s Burgers in Sweetwater Texas Will Be a New Starbucks

A quick Google search for a Starbucks in Sweetwater, Texas, shows no results in this town of about 10,000 people. But that will soon change as a closed Heff’s Burgers at 1806 TX-70 Bus is being converted into the coffeehouse giant.

An aerial view of the location in 1996, showing an undeveloped lot. This was the site before the Jack in the Box and later Heff’s Burgers were built.

The former Heff’s Burgers building, initially built in 2008 as a Jack in the Box, remained open for about five years. This building was the first development at this location along Interstate 20, which was constructed through the southern part of Sweetwater in the 1960s. Given its proximity to Interstate 20, the new Starbucks location might become quite busy. According to TDLR filings, the conversion is expected to be complete by November 2024. These images capture the transformation of the location from 1996 to 2024.
