McKinney Welcomes a New Whole Foods Soon at This Location

McKinney’s highly anticipated Whole Foods Market at West Grove is coming along quickly. If you’ve driven by 8743 US-380 lately, you’ve probably noticed a fully built structure where there was just an empty field not too long ago. But the big question remains—when will it open?

From Empty Lot to Nearly Finished Store

Looking back at images from 2013 and 2015, this spot was nothing but open farmland. Fast forward to September 2023, and you’d find construction fencing, dirt work, and the early signs of a major retail development.

By October 2024, the transformation was undeniable—the Whole Foods building was up, the parking lot was paved, and landscaping was in place. The exterior design features Whole Foods’ signature modern farmhouse look, with large wooden entryways and sloped rooflines. The site is now a fully realized grocery store—just waiting for final touches before welcoming its first customers.

What’s Next?

As of early 2025, Whole Foods hasn’t announced an exact opening date, but with the building complete and infrastructure in place, it’s safe to assume that it’s only a matter of months before doors open. West Grove itself is also shaping up, with major tenants like Sephora, Velvet Taco, Chipotle, and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar joining the lineup.

McKinney has been rapidly expanding along US-380, and this Whole Foods marks a big step in bringing high-end grocery options to the area. Given the progress, we can expect an official announcement soon.
