In December 2024, ALDI unveiled its newest Tampa location at 213 N. Dale Mabry Highway, revitalizing the space that previously housed a Barnes & Noble bookstore for nearly three decades.
A Storied Past
The Barnes & Noble at this address was a cherished community hub since its opening in 1993. For 29 years, it served as a gathering place for book enthusiasts, hosting numerous events and fostering a love for reading. In March 2023, the bookstore relocated to Tampa Town Square on W. Kennedy Blvd., marking the end of an era at the Dale Mabry location.

A New Chapter with ALDI
Following Barnes & Noble’s departure, ALDI recognized the potential of this prime location. The German-based discount supermarket chain undertook extensive renovations to transform the 22,000-square-foot space into a modern grocery store. The building, dating back to 1993, was updated to feature ALDI’s signature design, blending contemporary aesthetics with the site’s historical essence.
Grand Opening and Community Impact
The grand opening on December 5, 2024, was met with enthusiasm from local residents. The first 100 customers received gift bags filled with ALDI fan favorites and gift cards, adding excitement to the event. To further demonstrate its commitment to the community, ALDI donated $1,000 to Feeding Tampa Bay, supporting local hunger relief efforts.

The new ALDI store operates daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering a range of private-label products and a streamlined shopping experience. Customers can enjoy a variety of organic produce, gluten-free, and plant-based options. Additionally, the store provides curbside pickup and grocery delivery services, catering to the diverse needs of Tampa residents.
