CarMax has opened its third Fort Worth location at the southwest corner of Interstate 35W and Heritage Trace Parkway in the rapidly expanding Alliance community.
This site, once untouched grassland, has transformed significantly over the decades. Aerial images from the 1950s depict desolate land before Interstate 35W cut through the area in the mid-1960s. Heritage Trace Parkway was completed three decades later, but it wasn’t until the late 2000s that Fort Worth’s urban sprawl began to engulf the area.
CarMax, founded in 1993 by executives of the now-defunct Circuit City, has grown significantly. Circuit City went out of business in 2012, but CarMax has continued to thrive and expand.
