Historic Building Transforms: Sneaker Politics Brings New Life This Houston Building

At the corner of McKinney Street and Palmer Street in Houston’s East Downtown stands a 70-year-old industrial building at 3100 McKinney Street. According to TDLR filings, this weathered structure will soon transform into a modern space featuring retail and office areas. The front half of the first floor will house Sneaker Politics, a retailer founded in Lafayette, Louisiana in 2006. They specialize in sneakers and urban clothing. Historical imagery from the 1930s suggests the building might be older than 70 years, as similar structures appear in 1947 aerial photos. The renovation is expected to be complete by April 2025.
