Target store in Newington, CT

A new Target will replace the Grass Valley, California K-Mart on McKnight Way and Taylorville road. The eighth-largest retailer in the United States is opening many small format stores nationwide and this current K-Mart is one of the future locations. Kmart, which filled for bankruptcy 19 years ago, will close this location on December 19. Soon after, Target will take over, and the transition is expected to last anywhere from 12 to over 16 months. The entire process could cost up to $14 million.

The current K-Mart building was built in 1981 and anchors the McKnight Crossing Shopping Center which is owned by Mesa Management.
