New Filing Lists McDonald’s Project for Cameron County in Texas

A recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists a new McDonald’s restaurant at 21469 US Highway 77 in Cameron County. The plans describe a 4,222-square-foot building with a dual-lane drive-thru placed behind the restaurant. In addition, the scope includes site work to improve access and traffic flow. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2026 and finish in July 2026.

The address leads to a commercial property at Templeton Street and US-77/I-69E, just north of Harlingen city limits. Currently, the site contains a Stripes convenience store and a Valero fuel station. Due to its location, the property serves as a frequent stop for travelers traveling between Harlingen, Combes, and communities farther north.

This interchange also handles consistent traffic from commuters, freight trucks, and long-distance drivers. As a result, nearby businesses include fueling stations, truck stops, and other highway-oriented services. Furthermore, the property is highly visible from the interstate frontage road and offers direct access for both travel directions.

We will continue to monitor this project for permit activity and site changes, and provide updates when new information is confirmed.
