A new Chuy’s Tex-Mex is on its way to Willis, Texas, with construction scheduled to begin in August 2025 and wrap up by February 2026. According to state records, the restaurant will span 5,426 square feet and is described as a ground-up build with site improvements. The listed location is at Highway 45 and FM 1097, placing it within one of the busiest commercial intersections in northern Montgomery County.
While an exact parcel hasn’t been pinned down, the intersection is already home to big names like H-E-B, Kroger Marketplace, Dutch Bros, Chick-fil-A, Tractor Supply Co., and Whataburger. With two major grocers flanking both sides of the freeway and consistent new builds popping up, the area is quickly becoming a dining and retail hotspot. A new Chuy’s would slide right into the mix, likely serving both locals and I-45 travelers.
About Chuy’s
Chuy’s was founded in Austin in 1982 with a mission to bring bold, made-from-scratch Tex-Mex to life in a fun, irreverent setting. The first location opened in an old barbecue joint, decorated with hubcaps, velvet paintings, and other secondhand oddities—an aesthetic that stuck. The chain became known for its signature dishes like chicka-chicka boom-boom enchiladas, fresh tortillas, and the wildly popular creamy jalapeño dip.
Now publicly traded and operating more than 100 locations across 17 states, Chuy’s has retained much of its original quirky charm while expanding to suburban markets across the South and Midwest. The Willis location will add another pin to the map as the company continues to grow beyond major metros.
