Gold Leaf Crossing’s anchor store is rising in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Google Earth imagery dated June 25, 2025, shows the 148,000-square-foot Target with its roof in place and most exterior walls completed. Ground-level photos from the same period confirm active construction, with crews and heavy equipment working across the site.
The Target will be part of the 106.77-acre Gold Leaf Crossing development, which is set to bring new shopping, dining, and service options to the area. Site work extends beyond the main building, with grading, road construction, and utility installation visible on multiple surrounding parcels.
Location Details
Gold Leaf Crossing is at 1920 North Main Street, across from Marquee Station and near Wake County ABC Store and Culver’s. The site sits along US 401, a key route connecting Fuquay-Varina to surrounding communities. Developers plan to construct Wallace Adcock Boulevard to improve access between US 401 and NC 42 Highway.

- Phase 1 covers 48.23 acres and will include 234,000 square feet of retail space.
- Plans call for 960 parking spaces for visitors.
- Target’s construction began in 2025, with an expected opening in 2026.
- The development will add new stores, restaurants, and service businesses in later phases.
From Farmland to Shopping Destination
Decades ago, this area was farmland with open fields and scattered trees. In 1998, the land remained largely untouched. By 2009, nearby neighborhoods started appearing, though much of the space remained undeveloped. Today, the transformation is striking. Roads, parking lots, and building foundations are replacing the rural landscape. With Gold Leaf Crossing under construction, the site is shifting from an open expanse to a thriving retail hub.
What’s Next?
Gold Leaf Crossing will bring expanded shopping and job opportunities to Fuquay-Varina. With Target leading the way, more businesses are expected to follow. The area’s rapid growth signals a shift toward a more developed commercial corridor.
