Target is officially coming to the Fancher Creek Town Center in Southeast Fresno, and construction is well underway. Both Target and Sprouts Farmers Market are expected to open their doors in October 2025, bringing a major retail boost to this underserved part of the city.
Plans for the shopping center include a mix of national brands. Along with Target and Sprouts, retailers like PetSmart, Michaels, In-N-Out Burger, Chipotle, and HomeGoods are confirmed. A movie theater is also in the works, rounding out a retail lineup aimed at turning the center into a destination for shopping and dining in the region.
Location History and Community Impact
Fancher Creek Town Center has been years in the making. Located near the intersection of Tulare Avenue and Fowler Avenue, this site sat mostly undeveloped while other areas in Fresno grew. Local officials like Mayor Jerry Dyer and Councilmember Luis Chavez have repeatedly emphasized that Southeast Fresno has long been overlooked when it comes to retail investment.

Thatโs changing now. With over 275,000 square feet of space planned, the center is expected to create hundreds of jobs and provide shopping options without needing a long drive across town. Chavez recently noted that residents have waited over a decade for a major project like this to materialize.

This site had undeveloped for decades, sitting right at the intersection of Clovis and Tulare avenues. Historic aerial images dating back to the 1950s show farmland dominating the area, with little to no commercial activity. Fast-forward to the 1990s and 2000s, and while the surrounding neighborhoods continued growing, this particular piece of land remained untouched.
About Target
Target Corporation, founded in 1902 and headquartered in Minneapolis, operates more than 1,900 stores across the United States. Known for its wide product range, clean store layout, and design-forward approach, Target has remained a strong competitor in the retail sector. Recent store builds, including the Fresno project, reflect the company’s push into fast-growing neighborhoods with modern layouts and expanded grocery options.
