District 1860 is a new mixed use community coming soon to Lincolnwood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The new community will be in the same location as the demolished legendary Purple Hotel which was razed in 2013. District 1860 is being developed by Chicago based Tucker Development. The community will have 80-85,000 square feet of commercial space which will include restaurants, services and retail. A new Amazon Fresh grocery store is also planned in the southwest corner of the site. The northern section of the site will have a hotel building and the southeast section will have approximately 299 luxury residential apartments.

The new District will be a 36 minute drive from downtown Chicago. The location is at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Touhy Avenue.

The Purple Hotel

In 1960 the Purple Hotel was opened. The hotel was opened as Lincolnwood Hyatt House. It had upscale restaurants and was known to host live entertainment events by well known artists at the time.
District 1860 Location
The Purple Hotel was closed in 2007 due to multiple code violations. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 and demolished almost a month later. Construction for District 1860 is expected to begin fall of 2021.
