What Happened to Houston’s Cypress Pointe Red Lobster?

Red Lobster’s Cypress Pointe location at 302 FM 1960 Rd W in Houston quietly closed back in May 2024, and there’s been no sign of a comeback since. The closure was part of a larger wave that hit dozens of Red Lobster restaurants across the country during the company’s bankruptcy restructuring.

Now, months later, leasing signs have popped up — and property listings confirm the site is officially available. The former restaurant space is listed at roughly 1,800 square feet, with rental rates starting around $22 per square foot per year, triple net. That puts the site in line with surrounding spaces in the Cypress Pointe shopping center.

Red Lobster is still shown as a former tenant in some directories, but any trace of seafood is long gone from the spot. According to reports from Chron and KHOU, this was one of about 10 Red Lobsters that closed in Texas as part of the company’s effort to cut costs and offload underperforming stores.

No word yet on what might replace it, but the leasing status means something new could be on the way.
