Plans have been filed for a Chick-fil-A at 417 NW Parkway St in Azle, Texas, but with construction not expected to begin until 2026, the project is still a long way from the finish line. According to state records, the fast-food chain intends to build a 5,087-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru and standalone canopies.
The filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists a projected start date in May 2026 and a completion by October of that year. But as of mid-2025, no demolition or site prep has started, and the existing building on the property—currently marked as Neighborhood Autos—remains intact.
Used Car Lot Roots and a Mid-2010s Overhaul
The property has long been tied to auto sales. In earlier Street View imagery from 2008 and 2013, the lot was home to Wood Pre-Owned Autos, a small dealership with a building closer to the road. That original structure was demolished sometime between 2013 and 2014, when a new office-style building was constructed deeper into the lot. That newer building has operated as Neighborhood Autos in more recent years.
According to Tarrant County appraisal data, the current structure was built in 2013 and sits on a 1.05-acre lot. Historic aerials show the site was residential or undeveloped as far back as the 1950s. It wasn’t until the 2000s that consistent commercial use began to take shape, matching Azle’s slow but steady expansion westward.
Chick-fil-A’s Plans and What Might Happen Next
Chick-fil-A’s TDLR filing signals serious interest, but the timeline and wording—“ground-up construction”—indicate the project is still in the early stages. Any number of factors could cause delays or changes. The property remains privately held and has not yet seen visible signs of construction. If completed as proposed, this would be Azle’s first Chick-fil-A, and it would sit along a busy retail corridor near Highway 199, surrounded by car lots, fast food, and local shops.
For now, the deal isn’t done—but it’s definitely one to watch.
