New IKEA Store Coming to Dallas: This is The Site

IKEA will open a new store in Dallas by late 2025. The store will be located at The Shops at Park Lane, a mixed-use development just across from NorthPark Center. It will follow IKEAโ€™s smaller-format concept designed for urban areas.

The new two-level store will measure 63,000 square feet. Shoppers will find over 3,000 products available for immediate purchase. Food items will also be included. Larger items can be ordered in-store and picked up later or delivered to homes.

This location will be the fourth IKEA in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Others include stores in Frisco, Grand Prairie, and a future location in Rockwall. Unlike the much larger Frisco warehouse, the Dallas store focuses on convenience and central access.

Most Likely Site Is a Long-Vacant Lot at 8080 Park Lane

IKEA has not released specific site details. However, the only undeveloped parcel within the Park Lane development is located at 8080 Park Lane. This corner lot sits at the intersection of Park Lane and Park Lane North.

Historical imagery shows the lot was never fully built out. It served briefly as a parking area in the early 2000s and was later cleared. Today, it is an open grass field bordered by retail and residential buildings.

In 1995, the future IKEA site was used as a surface parking lot adjacent to US-75 and the early Park Lane development.

The lot’s central location and long-vacant status make it the likely choice for IKEA’s new store. No site plan or lease brochure has confirmed the address as of early April 2025. Still, it remains the most viable undeveloped space in the 33-acre retail complex.

The Shops at Park Lane features tenants such as Whole Foods Market, Nordstrom Rack, REI, and Old Navy. The development began in the late 2000s and has grown steadily since then.

A Quick Look at IKEAโ€™s Background

IKEA began in 1943 in ร„lmhult, Sweden. Its founder, Ingvar Kamprad, started the company as a mail-order business. It soon expanded into home goods and furniture, gaining recognition for flat-pack products and modern design.

The company opened its first U.S. location near Philadelphia in 1985. Since then, IKEA has grown to include more than 50 stores across the country.

In recent years, the brand introduced compact store formats in major cities like New York and Los Angeles. These locations are easier to reach and faster to navigate. IKEAโ€™s Park Lane store reflects that shift, targeting urban shoppers who value convenience.
