A New Gym is Coming to The Killeen Texas Area

If you’ve driven past 321 Morgan St. in Harker Heights, you’ve probably noticed the vacant lot near I-14. Well, that spot might not stay empty for long. Recent plans suggest that Crunch Fitness is looking to build a 38,732-square-foot gym right there. But before you get too excited, there’s still a long road ahead before anything is set in stone.

What’s in the Plans?

According to public records, the project is listed as new construction, meaning this won’t be a renovation or a simple build-out—it’s a ground-up development. The timeline? Construction is expected to begin in May 2026 and wrap up by January 2027. But as with any project, delays or changes could happen along the way.

A Look at the Site’s Past

Historic aerial images show just how much this area has evolved. Back in 1958, the site was nothing more than open land, with no signs of major development. By 2020, the landscape had completely transformed, with nearby commercial establishments and a growing residential presence. Today, the lot remains undeveloped but is surrounded by businesses, making it a prime location for a new fitness center.

Why Harker Heights?

Harker Heights has been growing fast, with new businesses and housing popping up all over. Sitting just east of Killeen and near Fort Cavazos, the area has a strong mix of military families, professionals, and fitness enthusiasts. With McDonald’s, The UPS Store, and other businesses nearby, a new Crunch Fitness could fit right in.

What is Crunch Fitness?

For those unfamiliar, Crunch Fitness is a gym chain known for its affordable membership options, high-energy group classes, and welcoming ‘No Judgments’ vibe. Whether you’re into weightlifting, cycling, or just looking for a solid treadmill session, Crunch tends to offer a little bit of everything.

What’s Next?

Right now, this project is still in its early stages. No visible construction has started, and we don’t yet have official confirmation from Crunch Fitness itself. But if all goes as planned, this could be a major addition to the Harker Heights fitness scene.

We’ll keep an eye on the site and update as things develop. For now, it’s a waiting game—but one worth watching.
