New Irving Central Fire Station Is On This Site

A new Central Fire Station is nearing completion at 132 E. Second Street in downtown Irving, Texas. The project has a budget of $6.9 million and is expected to be complete in 2024. The station will primarily serve the Irving Heritage District. This new station replaces the old one that was demolished at the same location.

The new two-story building will house a fire engine and a crew of four firefighters per shift. The living quarters will be on the ground floor, and the sleeping quarters upstairs, connected by fire poles for quick access to emergency vehicles. A dedicated section of the station will display historic Irving Fire Department memorabilia, including preserved bricks and a bay door from the original structure.

Residents selected the final design for the new station during a Town Hall meeting on August 25, 2022.
