Find Out More About Charlotte’s New Steele Creek Road Sprouts Location

The recently opened Sprouts Farmers Market on Steele Creek Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, carries a fairly rich retail history. The site, once home to an Earth Fare store, has seen some changes over the years.

Earth Fare opened its Steele Creek store in 2018 but closed just two years later due to financial difficulties. The 2.35-acre site at the corner of Steele Creek Road and Tyron Street now hosts a modern Sprouts Farmers Market, which opened about six months ago.

Sprouts Farmers Market, founded by the Boney family in Chandler, Arizona, in 2002, has expanded to over 380 stores across 23 states. Known for its wide selection of natural and organic foods, Sprouts offers fresh produce, bulk foods, vitamins, supplements, packaged groceries, meat, poultry, seafood, and fresh baked goods. The store also features a deli and bakery, along with natural body care products and household items.

Sprouts prides itself on offering minimally processed products free of artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, and synthetic ingredients, with 90% of its products meeting this standard.

Location History

The location has historical aerial images dating back to 1956, when it was just undeveloped grassland. Over the years, trees began to sprout, and by the late 1990s, a Harris Teeter store was built to the north of the site.

Earth Fare constructed their store at the location in 2018, marking the first major development on this site. After Earth Fare closed, the location remained vacant until Sprouts opened its doors.

This site has transformed from a simple patch of grassland to a bustling commercial spot, reflecting the dynamic growth of the Steele Creek area. The new Sprouts Farmers Market stands as the latest chapter in this location’s evolving history.
