Liberty Hill’s New Mixed-Use Development: Location History

Liberty Hill, located just north of Austin, Texas, is experiencing rapid growth. A significant mixed-use development is underway at 351 Highway 183, as noted in recent TDLR filings. Historically, the site marked for this development has been largely empty, with only a few buildings to the west, likely part of a farm. The site is at the southeast corner of Texas State Highway 29 and U.S. Route 183 which has been expanded.

According to the filings, the new development will feature a Target store along with several medium-scale retail buildings. However, there is currently no listing for a new Target store at this location on the retailer’s website. Additional sources indicate that the project will also include quick-service restaurants and multi-family housing.

These aerial images illustrate how the area has transformed from 2002 to 2023.

This image shows the site at 351 Highway 183 as it appeared in 2002. The area was largely undeveloped, with only a few scattered buildings to the west, likely remnants of agricultural activity. The vast open spaces highlight the rural nature of Liberty Hill before its recent growth.
In this image from 2023, the site at 351 Highway 183 has undergone significant changes. The previously empty land now shows signs of extensive development activity, preparing for the new mixed-use project. The marked area is set to become a bustling hub with possibly a Target store, retail buildings, quick-service restaurants, and multi-family housing, reflecting Liberty Hill’s rapid transformation and expansion.
