Home improvement titan Home Depot recently opened a new 136,014-square-foot store at the northwest corner of Cane Island Parkway and Kingsland Boulevard in Katy, Texas. This landmark development, the area’s first since historical aerial images began in the 1950s, launched on April 11. Located just south of Interstate 10, a roadway established through the area fifty-four years ago, this new store anchors a site poised for further growth. Adjacent to the bustling Home Depot, a Vanguard Truck Center has stood since between 2004 and 2008, surrounded by other emerging businesses.

This aerial image was captured in 2002 when Katy had a population of over 12,000. The population has since doubled.
