New Car Wash Opening in Balch Springs at I-635 and Elam Road

A new Konny’s Express Car Wash is coming to the southeast corner of Interstate 635 (Lyndon B Johnson Freeway) and Elam Road, bringing a convenient service to the residents of Balch Springs. Spanning 4500 square feet, the construction is underway at 3711 Shepherd Lane, a site that has remained undeveloped for nearly half a decade.

Konny’s Express Car Wash is coming to the southeast corner of Interstate 635 (Lyndon B Johnson Freeway) and Elam Road. This was a residential property in 2001 when the above aerial image was captured.

Historical records show that a small building, likely a residential house, once stood on this parcel as far back as the 1950s. With the construction of Interstate 635 in the late 1960s, the area saw a surge in residential development. The last residential structure on this site was demolished in 2014. Konny’s Car Wash, with two other locations in neighboring cities, is expanding its reach. The Balch Springs site will be its third, with an anticipated completion date in December 2024.

The buildings that were at this location have since been demolished but a lot of newer houses now populate the area.
