Supermarket chain Wegmans is getting ready to open a new 84,000 square-foot store in Washington DC’s Cathedral Heights neighborhood. The new store is part of the new City Ridge mixed-use community. DC’s new community includes the repurposed Fannie Mae building, and 7 new buildings.

This will be the 1st Wegmans in DC and is expected to open this summer.
About City Ridge Community

City Ridge is a 1.2 million square foot mixed-use development which includes 155,000 square feet of retail space that includes the Wegmans grocery store. space. The 10-acre property was developed by Roadside Development and North America Sekisui House (NASH). It will also include 887 residential units and 185,000 square feet of office space.
Wegmans History
Wegmans was founded in 1916 as Rochester Fruit and Vegetable Company in Rochester, New York. In 2020 the company had revenues of over $10 billion and currently has approximately 106 stores in the Northeast of the United States.
