A brand-new Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is set to rise on Earl Campbell Parkway in Tyler. The restaurant will be built just west of South Loop 323, next to Sam’s Club. According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction begins on May 26, 2025. The project is expected to be completed by January 1, 2026. Once finished, the 2,100-square-foot location will include a dual drive-thru, indoor dining area, and patio seating.
The building will be single-story with a wood frame structure. It will feature a mix of brick, EFIS, and modern storefront finishes. The plan also includes an on-site parking lot with three separate entrances for traffic flow.
This Tree-Covered Lot Is About to Change Dramatically
The Freddy’s site is currently a wooded area just off the main Sam’s Club parking lot. Satellite images from Google Maps and Airbus (2025) show dense tree cover with a visible footpath cutting through the lot.
This small patch of trees has long separated Sam’s Club from the busy intersection at Loop 323. It also acts as a shortcut for pedestrians walking to nearby shops and restaurants. That natural barrier, however, is being cleared to make room for new development.
Chick-fil-A sits just north across Earl Campbell Parkway. To the south, All Saints Episcopal School adds daily traffic to the area. As a result, this corner of Tyler has become increasingly attractive for major national chains.
Freddy’s Adds to the Retail Momentum on Earl Campbell Parkway
Freddy’s chose a highly visible spot surrounded by daily activity. Loop 323 feeds constant traffic into this area, while Sam’s Club next door brings steady crowds throughout the week.
Over the past two decades, this part of Tyler has changed rapidly. What was once untouched forest now includes a mix of restaurants, medical offices, and large-scale retail. Freddy’s will soon become the newest part of that transformation.
With construction expected to begin in late May, the site will look very different by winter. If all stays on schedule, Tyler residents could be enjoying steakburgers and frozen custard at the new Freddy’s by early 2026.ers could be grabbing steakburgers and frozen custard by early 2026.
