New Hurst Texas, Car Wash at Former Outback Site Nears Completion

We first covered this project in March 2024 when Quick Quack announced plans to redevelop the former Outback Steakhouse property at 701 Airport Freeway in Hurst. More than a year later, the project looks close to completion. However, the company still lists the location as “Coming Soon” on its official website, with no confirmed opening date or hours.

Construction status

Recent work shows the building structure standing, and equipment is now on site. This suggests the car wash is in its final stages. Even so, the City of Hurst’s July 2025 occupancy report does not yet clear the address for business. Until that certificate is issued, the wash cannot open to the public.

Location context

The site sits on Airport Freeway, next to a McDonald’s and across from several office and retail buildings. Outback Steakhouse once occupied the property before closing in 2015. After years of vacancy, Quick Quack moved in with redevelopment plans.

Company background

Quick Quack Car Wash started in California and has since expanded across several states. The company operates many locations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. It promotes fast service through a drive-through model and monthly subscription plans. The Hurst site remains on its growth list, but for now drivers will need to wait until the final approvals come through.

This 2024 aerial image shows the lot empty almost 10 years after the Outback Restaurant was razed. The most notable difference in the area is the expanded Texas State Highway 183.
