A new ALDI store is set to open on June 12, 2025, at 2799 Route 112 in Medford, New York. The grocer will occupy a pre-existing retail space within the Medford Crossings shopping center, previously occupied by Michaels, which has since relocated to another location within the same plaza.
ALDI will occupy approximately 22,000 square feet, offering its standard setup with wide aisles, a rotating selection of seasonal items, curbside pickup, and grocery delivery. A sneak peek event is planned for June 11, with giveaways and promotions for the first 100 customers on opening day, including a chance to win a $500 gift card.
This Corner Was Once All Woods
Before the shopping center existed, the entire site at Route 112 and Horseblock Road was densely wooded. Aerial imagery from 1954 and 1985 shows no signs of commercial development. The land remained untouched well into the mid-1980s.

By 1994, the plaza was fully built out. The current structuresโincluding the future ALDI spaceโwere already in place. Property records list the centerโs construction date as 1986, placing it among the older retail complexes in the area.
ALDI Moves In, But the Plaza Stays Familiar
Rather than building something new, ALDI is reusing an existing structure. The shopping center includes tenants like T.J. Maxx, Rite Aid, the New York State DMV, and Starbucks. Michaels, though no longer in the same unit, continues to operate just a short distance away in the same complex.
Nearby retailers include Samโs Club and Target, both located to the south of the site, making this stretch of Route 112 a key commercial corridor in Medford. According to commercial listings, Medford Crossings spans roughly 142,000 square feet, with surface parking for several hundred vehicles.
