A new Home Depot is officially scheduled to open in May 2025 in Moscow, Idaho. The store will total 136,000 square feet and include a garden center. Located just north of the Palouse Mall, the site is on University of Idaho land leased to the retailer. The Idaho State Board of Education approved the 20-year lease in August 2023, paving the way for the development.
Home Depot is also funding the extension of A Street through the site. This aligns with the cityโs long-term transportation goals. While some community members worry about impacts on small businesses, others welcome the added retail option and economic potential.
Location History
The site was originally part of the University of Idahoโs North Farm, acquired in 1926 and used for agricultural research and pasture. In 1978, the university began leasing land in the area for commercial use. This led to the development of the Palouse Mall, which opened in phases starting in 1976. The enclosed mall structure was completed by 1979.

About the Project
This store is part of Home Depotโs nationwide expansion in 2025. Construction is underway, and the company has confirmed an official May 2025 opening window, though no exact date has been announced. The development includes infrastructure upgrades, with Home Depot funding the A Street extension through the property.
Bailey Construction is managing the build. Hiring is currently active for the new store, which will feature standard departments and services. The Moscow City Council is still reviewing the development agreement as part of the cityโs approval process.
