Marcus Theatres, which acquired the chain in 2018, decided to close the Bedford location after a financial review. The closure surprised many longtime visitors who enjoyed the mix of movies and dining along TX 183 and TX 121.
Fortunately, the tradition will continue. LOOK Dine-In Cinemas plans to reopen the space in May 2025, according to an announcement by the City of Bedford. Movie Tavern Bedford first opened in 2003, offering a new entertainment option for the growing community.
Before and After: How the Site Has Changed
The history of the property stretches back decades. In the 1950s, aerial photos show a small farmhouse, barns, and open fields. TX 183 and TX 121 construction in the 1960s reshaped the land, opening Bedford to new development.
By the early 2000s, fields had been replaced by a busy shopping center. Movie Tavern became one of its main anchors, combining casual dining with cinema entertainment. For over 20 years, the theater served as a go-to spot for families, couples, and friends.
LOOK Dine-In Cinemas: What Will Stay the Same and What Will Change
According to LOOK Cinemas’ website, most locations offer full in-theater dining with seat-side service. Their menu typically includes appetizers like cheesy garlic bread, pizzas, burgers, salads, and desserts such as brownie sundaes and fried Oreos. Bedford’s menu has not been confirmed, but similar options are likely.
LOOK Cinemas also usually offers a full-service bar, featuring craft cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine. Another change will involve ordering: guests will order using QR codes at their seats, according to LOOK’s official dining guide. Although the name and management are changing, the core idea remains the same.
