The New Costco Location
The new Costco is strategically situated near Interstate 95 and less than five miles from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. This area, once unoccupied, has evolved to accommodate new commercial developments, reflecting Sharon’s growth and adaptability.
Sharon’s Historical Evolution
Sharon’s history dates back to 1637 when it was part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. It became the second precinct of Stoughton in 1740, was established as the district of Stoughtonham on June 21, 1765, incorporated as the Town of Stoughtonham on August 23, 1775, and renamed Sharon on February 25, 1783, after Israel’s Sharon plain, due to its high level of forestation. During the American Revolution, local foundries produced cannonballs and cannons for the Continental Army.

In the 19th century, Lake Massapoag in Sharon became a popular summer resort destination, attracting visitors to its scenic beauty. The town’s central Post Office Square is marked by three tall white church spires, reflecting its New England heritage.
