A New Taco Casa Is Planned for Fort Worth: Here is The Location

A Taco Casa could be coming to 1901 N.E. 28th Street in Fort Worth, but don’t get too excited just yet—this isn’t an official announcement. Instead, this information comes from a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing, which means the project is in the early planning stages and subject to change.

According to the filing, the plan is to build a new freestanding quick-service restaurant (QSR) with a drive-thru, spanning 3,184 square feet. If everything moves forward as expected, construction should begin in March 2025, and wrap up by November 2025.

What’s at This Location Now?

Right now, 1901 N.E. 28th Street is a vacant lot, but it hasn’t always been that way. Looking at historical aerial images, a building once stood here for decades before disappearing sometime between 1990 and 2000. The pavement and foundation remnants visible today suggest something commercial occupied the spot before it was demolished.

This stretch of N.E. 28th Street has long been a mix of residential and commercial spaces, making it a reasonable location for a fast-food spot like Taco Casa.

What Happens Next?

Since this is a TDLR filing and not an official announcement, plans could shift—or even be scrapped altogether. TDLR filings are common for new projects, but businesses don’t always follow through. For now, we’ll keep an eye on this location and update if any official announcements are made.
