Location

A new Burlington Coat Factory will be a part of the upcoming Sawyer’s Walk mixed use community in Miami’s Overtown district. The discount retailer will be one of the 5 major tenants on the ground floor of the 1.4 million square-foot development. Swerdlow Group is the developer and Coastal Construction is the general contractor.

Location History

Same location in 1994. The block had many buildings until they were razed the 1980s.

Burlington History

  • In 1972 Monroe and Henrietta Milstein purchased a former factory outlet in Burlington, New Jersey, for $675,050.
  • With 31 locations, Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation went public in 1983.
  • Bain Capital Partners purchased the company in 2006 for $2.06 billion.
  • In 2021 Burlington had 761 locations throughout the United States.
  • After TJX Companies and Ross Stores, Burlington is the third largest discount department store in the United States.
