Renaissance Tower was built in 1974 using the boxy designs that were popular in the 70’s. When completed it was the tallest building in Dallas.
In 1986 the building was renovated. The building was re-glazed and lighting was removed on the sides. A broadcast center was also added to the top making it the 2nd tallest in Dallas. A title it holds to this day.
In the hit show Dallas, images of the building were used as the home of the fictional company Ewing Oil. Blockbuster had its offices in the building before shutting its doors.
