What Happened to These 9 Former Circuit City Stores in DFW?

Circuit City was once a familiar sight across Dallas–Fort Worth, competing for customers in the growing electronics retail market. Even before its collapse in 2009, the company had relocated some stores into newer buildings, leaving behind older retail properties. When the chain finally closed, more buildings were left behind. Many survived, but their purposes changed dramatically.

Interestingly, Google Street View launched in 2007, just as Circuit City was approaching its final years. Some of the earliest images captured the electronics chain still operating, preserving a glimpse of storefronts that would soon disappear. Using those historical images and more recent views, we revisited nine former Circuit City locations across DFW to see what became of them.

9. Cedar Hill — From Circuit City to Best Buy

One electronics retailer eventually gave way to another at this Cedar Hill shopping center. Circuit City occupied the large storefront before the chain’s nationwide liquidation in 2009. Best Buy later moved into the property, replacing the former yellow entrance design with its familiar blue-and-yellow branding. The building remains in use as a Best Buy store. Although historical imagery is blurry, the original storefront design can still be recognized.
