Large RV Development Proposed

The filing shows plans for a 109-acre RV park with 945 RV spaces at 1202 Elmdale Road in Taylor County. The project is estimated to cost $15 million and includes asphalt internal roads along with concrete drives and walkways.

Construction is listed as beginning March 2026 with a projected completion in August 2026. The total project area is listed at 4,748,040 square feet, indicating a development far larger than most typical RV parks.

Property Has Long History

Historic aerial imagery from 1937 shows a small rural homestead already located on the property. The image reveals a house and several outbuildings surrounded by open farmland.

Street-level imagery today still shows an older home partially hidden by brush and trees, suggesting the site has remained largely rural for decades.

Possible Transformation Ahead

The property sits along Elmdale Road in northeast Abilene, an area with scattered homes and open land. If completed as proposed, the project would transform the long-standing rural property into a large RV destination with nearly 1,000 spaces.
