A new H-E-B store is under construction in Montgomery, Texas. The project is rising at the southeast corner of State Highway 105 and FM 2854 and will bring a large-format grocery store to the growing area near Lake Conroe.
The store is expected to span roughly 127,000 square feet. In addition to the main grocery store, plans for the development have included a fuel station, car wash, and additional retail space.
Recent filings show construction began in late 2025, with completion currently targeted for 2026. The project remains active as of March 2026, and no official opening date has been announced.
Latest Site Activity
The most recent street-level imagery from October 2025 shows grading and early site preparation underway at the intersection. Dirt work and land clearing were visible at that time, though vertical construction had not yet started.
That early site work aligns with later construction records and the city’s current classification of the project as under construction.
Why This Location?
Montgomery has grown rapidly in recent years, fueled by development near Lake Conroe and surrounding residential communities. The intersection of State Highway 105 and FM 2854 is a key route connecting Montgomery and Conroe, making it a prominent location for a major grocery store.
Nearby grocery options include Kroger and Brookshire Brothers, but H-E-B’s entry would introduce a much larger format store with expanded grocery and prepared food offerings.
H-E-B Expansion and Impact
Founded in 1905, H-E-B operates hundreds of stores across Texas and Mexico. The company has continued expanding into fast-growing suburban markets, and Montgomery fits that pattern.
The new store is expected to create jobs and add another major grocery option for the growing Lake Conroe area.

Construction is expected to continue through 2026. As of now, the Montgomery location does not yet appear on H-E-B’s official store locator, which usually happens closer to opening.
