Construction is actively underway on a new Home Depot store in Penitas, marking a major milestone for the city’s expanding retail corridor. According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, The Home Depot is developing a new location at 1901 Liberty Blvd, with construction having started in October 2025 and completion expected in September 2026. The project confirms long-planned expansion into the fast-growing Peñitas Crossing area.

The new Home Depot will measure approximately 136,136 square feet, including a 108,053-square-foot main retail building and a 28,083-square-foot garden center. State filings show the project cleared accessibility review and entered its construction phase late last year.
Satellite imagery from October 2025 shows the site at the start of development, with surrounding commercial construction already underway nearby. With several months now elapsed since the official construction start date, the project is progressing toward its expected fall 2026 completion.
Strategic location anchors expanding retail corridor
The store is being built along Liberty Blvd near Expressway 83, an area rapidly transforming into one of Penitas’ primary commercial hubs. Multiple national retailers and restaurants are under development nearby, forming a new regional shopping destination.
The addition of Home Depot strengthens the corridor’s role as a retail anchor zone and is expected to support continued commercial growth in the surrounding area.
