A new warehouse store is coming to St. George, Utah, with an expected opening in March 2026. The project was confirmed through official upcoming location announcements by Costco Wholesale. City planning officials have already approved the development, clearing the way for construction to move forward.
This will become the second Costco location in St. George. The new warehouse is intended to support the region’s rapid population growth and expanding residential development in the southern portion of the city.
Construction Details and Store Size
The planned warehouse will measure approximately 160,000 square feet. This reflects Costco’s modern large-format store design, which includes expanded retail space and updated infrastructure. The development will sit on roughly 18 acres, providing space for the warehouse, parking areas, and fuel facilities.
A full Costco gas station is included in the project plans. The fuel station will feature 15 pumps with 30 fueling positions. Nearly 800 parking spaces are also planned to support customer traffic. These specifications align with Costco’s newest high-capacity warehouse layouts.
City planning officials approved the project following formal review. Commercial permits have been filed, confirming the development has moved beyond the proposal phase and into active preparation for construction.
Location Positioned Near Major Interstate Access
The new warehouse will be located along Desert Color Parkway, directly east of Interstate 15. The site sits adjacent to a major freeway interchange, providing easy regional access for customers traveling from across southern Utah.
This area has seen increasing commercial and residential expansion in recent years. The Desert Color community has emerged as one of the fastest-growing development zones in St. George. Interstate visibility and accessibility make the site ideal for a regional retail anchor.
The location allows Costco to serve both local residents and travelers passing through the region. Interstate-adjacent locations are a common strategy for Costco due to their ability to attract consistent customer traffic.
Costco Expanding to Meet Rapid Population Growth
Costco Wholesale operates more than 600 warehouse locations across the United States. The company continues to expand into high-growth markets where demand for bulk retail and fuel services continues to increase.
St. George has experienced steady population growth for decades. Washington County remains one of the fastest-growing regions in Utah. The addition of a second Costco reflects long-term demand for expanded retail infrastructure.
The new warehouse will complement the existing Costco location, which opened in St. George in November 2000. Once completed, the new store will provide additional capacity and improved access for residents in southern and western areas of the city.
Costco currently lists the St. George warehouse among its confirmed upcoming locations, with a projected opening timeline of March 2026.
