New ALDI to Open Soon at Former Staples Site in Pittsburgh, PA

A new ALDI grocery store is preparing to open later this month at 2515 Banksville Road in Pittsburgh. The location previously housed a Staples store, which closed in 2023. ALDI’s official website confirms the grand opening date as November 20, 2025, marking another addition to the chain’s growing footprint in western Pennsylvania. The building has been renovated for the new supermarket, which will feature ALDI’s standard mix of fresh produce, pantry goods, and household essentials.

Location and Site History

The property sits along the busy Banksville Road corridor, near Dormont Park and the neighborhoods of Beechview and Green Tree. Historic aerial imagery shows that the area was undeveloped hillside in 1949. By 1973, a commercial structure with parking had been built, reflecting the suburban expansion along U.S. Route 19 during that era. The building that once held Staples has since been reconfigured to accommodate ALDI’s grocery format.
