A new QuikTrip is planned for the southwest corner of Sun Fire Boulevard and North Zaragoza Road in El Paso, but construction has not yet started. The project, filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation earlier this year, called for a July 2025 start with completion expected in January 2026.
Construction Status
As of September 2025, recent aerial imagery of the site shows the lot remains vacant with no grading, paving, or structural work visible. This confirms that construction has not begun despite the filing’s projected timeline. The permits and approvals are in place, but activity on the ground has yet to start.
Location
The planned store will sit at one of El Paso’s busiest intersections, surrounded by established neighborhoods, retail plazas, and other fuel stations. This corridor has seen steady growth, making it a strong target for national brands like QuikTrip.
What’s Next
The proposal calls for a 5,067-square-foot convenience store with a full-service fueling station. Once construction does begin, it is expected to bring new jobs, more fuel options, and added competition to the Zaragoza Road corridor. For now, the lot remains empty, and an official opening is unlikely before 2026.

How Has the Site Changed Over Time?
The location of the future QuikTrip has transformed significantly over the years.
- 1991 Aerial Image: The area was mostly undeveloped desert land with sparse vegetation and limited infrastructure. North Zaragoza Rd existed but was a simple roadway with no major commercial intersections.
- Present-Day Development (2024 Aerial View): The intersection of Sun Fire Blvd & Zaragoza Rd has become a bustling commercial hub, featuring businesses like Toro Burger Bar, ALON Gas Station, Church’s Texas Chicken, and MoneyGram. The QuikTrip site is vacant, but its location within this expanding retail corridor makes it a prime development spot.
