When we first covered Green Acres Nursery & Supply in June 2022, the big news was that the California-based chain had chosen Irving for its first Texas store. The site at 2800 Ranch Trail, once a Conn’s furniture store, was transformed into a massive garden center on the edge of the Cypress Waters community. Now, a few years later, it’s time to see how the location has settled in — through the eyes of its customers.
Construction and Opening
The Irving location repurposed the old big-box building and expanded with large greenhouse structures. The store officially opened in 2023, bringing Green Acres’ Sacramento-area model to North Texas. At more than 120,000 square feet, it’s far larger than most garden centers and carries everything from houseplants and shrubs to patio furniture and irrigation supplies.
Customer Impressions
Reviews across multiple platforms paint a consistent picture: the store is big, well-stocked, and supported by helpful staff. On Google, the location holds a 4.5-star rating from 248 reviews, making it the most reliable barometer of how shoppers feel. Yelp users echo that sentiment with a 4.6-star score across 27 reviews, while MapQuest also shows 4.5 stars from 27 reviewers.
Recurring positives include the huge selection of plants, competitive pricing, and a consistently clean and organized layout. Customers also highlight staff members who step in to replace struggling plants and guide buyers through the store’s wide inventory. One standout feature mentioned is the “Plant Bar,” which has even hosted small events like birthday gatherings.
Location History
How It’s Doing Today
After opening its doors, Green Acres seems to have established itself as a trusted local nursery in Irving. Customers compare prices favorably against chains like Home Depot and Lowe’s, especially for flats of annuals. While the occasional review notes plant quality issues, the overall trend shows strong service recovery and satisfied repeat visitors.
Green Acres’ leap from California to Texas was ambitious, but based on ratings and reviews, the Irving store has carved out a place in the growing Cypress Waters community.
