In 2019, we captured images of a closed Kroger in Grand Prairie, showing the building darkened and leasing signs posted out front. At the time, the site stood as another example of mid-size grocers leaving the Dallas–Fort Worth market. Years later, the property has been repurposed. Today, the former Kroger has reopened as CLUB4 Fitness.
The Closure
Kroger’s exit in April 2019 mirrored a wave of mid-size closures across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. By the end of that year, the Grand Prairie building sat empty, with leasing signs posted in front of the property. Images from late 2019 show the darkened façade and notices confirming the shutdown.
The Transformation
The site remained empty for several years. By late 2022, however, the space had been repurposed. A December 2022 Google Street View capture shows the property reopened as CLUB4 Fitness, with updated signage and exterior changes reflecting its new role.
