A new Panda Express is set to join Sanger’s growing Interstate 35 interchange, with construction expected to begin in early 2026 and wrap up by mid-year, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The 2,697-square-foot restaurant will be a ground-up build, located at the intersection of I-35 and Chapman Road in Denton County.
This stretch of Sanger has steadily evolved into a bustling commercial hub, driven by interstate traffic and the city’s ongoing growth. The upcoming Panda Express will join other fast-food and retail options clustered around the Chapman Road exit, making it another quick stop for travelers and locals alike.
From Empty Lots to a Commercial Hub
Back in 1995, the Chapman Road interchange looked very different. Historic aerial imagery reveals the west side of I-35 to be largely vacant, with only a handful of buildings and numerous open fields. Development was sparse, and the area’s role as a commercial stopover was still years away.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the same location is surrounded by restaurants, gas stations, and service businesses. The west side of the interchange has filled in with commercial pads and parking lots, positioning it perfectly for a new quick-service restaurant.
Opening Targeted for 2026
Once construction begins, the project is expected to take about six months to complete. While Panda Express has not made a public announcement yet, the TDLR filing confirms the timeline and location. With its spot right off the interstate, the new restaurant is expected to capture both highway travelers and local customers when it opens in 2026.
